Matt Mullenweg recently posted on the WordPress.com blog about how Automattic does a fair bit of their work behind the scenes, on infrastructure and other improvements, and he has proved that today with an upload storage space on WordPress.com accounts increasing from 50 megabytes to 3 gigabytes, or an increase of sixty-fold.
From the post:
Today, one of those developments comes to fruition — everyone’s free upload space has been increased 60x from 50mb to 3,000mb. To get half that much space (1GB) at our nearest competitor, Typepad, you’d pay at least $300 a year. We’re doing the same thing for free.
Our hope is that much in the same way Gmail transformed the way people think about email, we’ll give people the freedom to blog rich media without having to worry about how many kilobytes are left in their upload space.

What is GIMS ?
GIMS is for Group Instant Messaging Service.
This service is available for every employee connecting from the Capgemini intranet or from the internet.
That’s a collaborative work tool which improves efficiency regarding communication between people and teams.
Instant messaging
Communicate with your colleagues in real time using chat, voice (you need an headset with microphone) or video (you need a webcam).
Availability status
Select a specific status according to your availability for your contacts.
Contacts filtering
Add, remove people in your list of contacts, choose to accept or reject a contact request…
Presence information
Be aware in real time of your colleague’s availability through Office Communicator or Office Outlook, so that you don’t loose time to try to contact them.
Remote access
The service is reachable from the internet thanks to an Access Proxy server and a secure transport protocol. Useful for mobile Capgemini employees.
